I'm mostly trying to figure out the twist rate of the barrel without having to take it apart. I have seen no definitive descrpiption of either one other than -7 was two piece barrel and -8 was slab side barrel. Dolf, the number you are looking at is NOT the serial number, it's the factory assembly number, used to keep the major parts of the revolver together for final fitting. Most likely, your serial number will have a K in it, at the fourth position (like 130Kxxx). If it is a later Model 19-5 (post 1983) it will have three letters and four numeric digits.
