Yeah, WICO marks A LOT of NPCs as Protected (only player can kill them) and some of them as Essential as far as I know (noone can kill them). However you can VERY easily revert those changes back to original values (or for example to the ones provided by Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch).
